The Team

Gary & Karis met at Film School in 1991. Both qualified as  sound recordists. Gary specialising in production, Karis in editing. After years pursuing careers they joined up again in 2004 to form a scriptwriting team with a view to producing screenplays and radio drama.

Radio Tyneside’s Geordie Hour is the first of its kind. It’s the only radio show in the world dedicated to the talents of musicians, writers, bands and entertainers from the North East of England past and present.

The Animals - The Geordie Hour Radio Show

We play North East musicians, singers and bands from the past and the present. You can hear new releases by unsigned artists and tracks from Geordie megastars like The Animals, Dire Straits, The Shadows etc - but don’t expect the tracks you hear on all the other shows!

The Geordie Hour is produced at Radio Tyneside in Newcastle and is broadcast by three other local hospital stations thereby covering a large area of the North East.

5pm Sunday
Repeated 8pm Wednesday

The Geordie Hour is a not-for-profit show. Radio Tyneside is a charity station and can’t afford the licences for listen-again facilities. We do however have a small selection of shows archived so you can listen at your leisure.
